Chamkoria Chalets - Construction Update

The completion of the apartments is now very near which is good to see. The painting work has been finished in the apartments and the bathrooms suites have been fitted. The laminate flooring will be be installed shortly, as will the doors of the apartments.  The common hallways have been painted and tiled so these areas are ready also.

Some of the chalet furniture has been delivered and is looking great. The furniture for the apartments will be delivered throughout November.

A lot of work has taken place on the grounds of the complex and it is really taking shape. The stone walls and stone pathways to the chalets have been built. The driveway for access to the centre of the complex area has been finished with nice large paving stones. Also the car parking areas have been finished using similar paving stones.

EC Unfreezes Some Pre-Accession Funds

Last month it was announced from Brussels Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov that millions of Euros under the EU-backed programme SAPARD will be released to Bulgaria. Previously the funds were withheld for concern of fraud and corruption.

The funding under the SAPARD program is farm subsidies to help Bulgaria modernize its agriculture industry and farming techniques. More than 2,400 projects have received funding under the SAPARD program so far worth BGN 794 M. Another BGN 156 M is expected to be granted to a total of 321 projects, which have already been approved.

Infrastructure Aid For Sofia

Last week European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Sofia Municipality signed a loan agreement for EUR 43.5M, which will be used to improve the road infrastructure in the Bulgarian capital.

EIB Vice-President Marta Gajecka and Bulgaria’s Finance Minister Simeon Djankov also signed a memorandum for cooperation on large infrastructure projects in Bulgaria. The agreements will allow technical aid for Bulgaria on improving the supervision and implementation of large transport and infrastructure projects which are co-funded by EU grants or EIB loans.
